Lastet Injection is a sterile concentrate for intravenous infusion containing Etoposide (100 mg / 5 ml).

Manufacturer: Khandelwal Laboratories (KLAB), India.

Product Form:

Supplied as a 5 ml vial containing 100 mg of Etoposide (20 mg/ml). It acts by inhibiting Topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks in cancer cells.

✅ Usage: Designed for hospital use in multi-drug chemotherapy protocols.

Indicated for the treatment of:

  • Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC): Often used in combination with Cisplatin.
  • Testicular Cancer: Refractory non-seminomatous germ cell tumors.
  • Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas.
  • Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

⚠️ For Slow Intravenous Infusion ONLY.

Administration Guidelines:

  • 🚫 NO Rapid Injection: Rapid push causes severe hypotension (low blood pressure). Administer over at least 30–60 minutes.
  • 💧 Must be Diluted: Dilute the concentrate in 0.9% Sodium Chloride or 5% Dextrose. Final concentration should not exceed 0.4 mg/ml to prevent precipitation.

Warning: Extravasation (leakage under skin) causes severe tissue necrosis. Do not administer IM or SC.

  • Severe bone marrow depression (Neutrophils < 1500/mm³, Platelets < 75,000/mm³).
  • Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
  • Hypersensitivity to Etoposide.
  • Pregnancy.

Adverse reactions associated with IV administration:

  • Hypotension: Related to rapid infusion rate.
  • Myelosuppression: Leukopenia is the dose-limiting toxicity. Monitor blood counts.
  • Alopecia: Reversible hair loss occurs in most patients.
  • Nausea and vomiting.
