Sutekast 50 mg is a targeted cancer therapy containing Sunitinib Malate.

Manufacturer: Aprazer Healthcare (India). It is a cost-effective generic version of Sutent.

How it works:

Sunitinib inhibits multiple receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) that are implicated in tumor growth and angiogenesis (blood vessel formation). By blocking these pathways, it starves the tumor and halts cancer progression.

✅ Key Benefit: It is the first-line standard of care for metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Indicated for the treatment of:

  • Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC): Kidney cancer.
  • Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST): After disease progression on or intolerance to Imatinib.
  • Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (pNET).

Strength: 50 mg capsule.

Standard Schedule "4/2" (for RCC & GIST):

  • 📅 4 Weeks ON: Take one 50 mg capsule daily.
  • 📅 2 Weeks OFF: No medication (rest period).

Repeat this 6-week cycle.

⚠️ Instructions:

  • Can be taken with or without food.
  • Do not crush or open the capsule (contents are yellow and staining).
  • Avoid Grapefruit and St. John's Wort.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding (Category D).
  • Severe bleeding disorders.
  • Severe cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation).
  • Uncontrolled hypertension.

Patients should be aware of unique side effects:

  • 🟡 Yellow Discoloration: Skin and possibly hair may turn yellowish due to the active ingredient's color. This is reversible.
  • Hand-Foot Syndrome: Pain, swelling, and blisters on palms and soles.
  • Stomatitis: Mouth sores or altered taste.
  • Hypertension and Fatigue.
